Grafton Recruitment Project in Tanzania

In October 2008 Deborah Clifford, Regional Manager (M1 and Down) traveled with Children In Crossfire to Tanzania. Below is her account of the trip:

"The purpose of the cultural experience was to visit the current projects that Children in Crossfire support in addition to visiting potential projects. Together as a group of 16 we visited an orphanage, a technical college, a HIV/ AIDS education and support centre, a medical centre, various schools and local villages.

Two projects in particular stood out for me. The first reinforced the reality of the third world, an impoverished village with extreme malnutrition and very poor, deprived living conditions. This village is desperately seeking a medical centre. The second, St. Amadeus of Lausanne Secondary School, Makini, Moshi radiated hope and showed the fantastic achievements of Children in Crossfire. This project helps with the construction of a girl’s secondary school. It will help provide secondary school education for many young girls previously denied such opportunity. It will place an emphasis on teaching science subjects in line with government policy, helping to prepare girls for future careers.

The experience was fabulous, and helps to remember all the little things we take for granted – water, food, shelter.

Grafton Recruitment have committed to sponsoring Children in Crossfire for 3 years. This is an amazing charity and the experience reinforced to me that we have chosen a wonderful and worthwhile charity."
