1.What does your job entail?

I work on the Sainsbury’s campaign, which involves processing customers online shopping orders, and dealing with complaints and resolving these where possible.  The majority of the complaints are usually regarding deliveries of groceries being late, or items being missing from the shopping order.

2.What skills do you need to be good at your job?

The basic key skills such as good IT skills and the ability to communicate to a variety of different people are of essence.  Good customer service experience is also essential to this position, as we act as Sainsbury’s online customer service centre. Being a team player is also necessary.

3.Did you have much IT/ Customer Service experience prior to working in Teleperformance?

My previous job was as a dishwasher / waiter at the Carnlea Golf Club.  This involved engaging with the public on a regular basis, and from this I picked up good customer service experience, which has definitely been an advantage in this position.

4.What do you like most about your job?

The best thing about my job is definitely the people I work with.  Everyone is so friendly and helpful, and this helped me settle in really quickly. I find the job itself thoroughly enjoyable and I really like working as part of a team, and talking to so many different people every day.

5.When you are not in work, how do you like to spend your time?

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with friends, and I am a big football fan, both watching and playing it.

1.What campaign do you work on, and what does your role involve?

I work on the National Blood Service Campaign inbound, which involves dealing with the general public, booking appointments for patrons to donate blood, answering medical questions, this is generally where donors who have been on medication will ring us to see if they are eligible to give blood; and also dealing with complaints. The majority of complaints we get through are regarding problems at a session, such as long wait times, or how a member of staff has dealt with them.

2.Teleperformance have a training programme for all of their agents, when they first start, how did you find this?

I found the training programme extremely informative and valuable. As I had no experience in this kind of work, I felt it prepared me greatly for all aspects of the job.

3.What are your plans for the future within Teleperformance?

There are great opportunities for career progression within Teleperformance and it is widely encouraged, so my plans are to climb the ladder as soon as I can, possibly first to Team Leader, and then on up the ladder to a managerial position, if possible.

4.What advice would you give someone who is considering a job with Teleperformance?

For anyone considering a job in Teleperformance, I would definitely tell them to go for it.  Teleperformance are a great company to work for, they are very flexible, and all of the staff is very friendly. Also as I said before, for anyone looking not just a job, but a career, Teleperformance provide great opportunities.

5.When you were growing up, what did you want to be?

When I was growing up I always wanted to be in the army, and I was actually a Soldier for 11 ½ years. After leaving the army, I found it difficult to find a job, as I had no work experience other than working in the army, then I gained this position in Teleperformance and I haven’t looked back since.
