"Me? Work in a call centre? Yeah right!" I hear some of you cry at the mere suggestion of it.
Yet, let's not be hasty. There are plenty of reasons why working in a Contact Centre COULD work for you and could BENEFIT you in the long run. Much of the reasoning behind the Contact Centre occupational stigma is outdated and for the right candidates, jobs in modern Contact Centres have a great deal to offer.
This sector continues to be highly competitive, with a number of multinational companies making Northern Ireland & the Republic of Ireland their chosen destination for Contact Centre and Shared Services activities. This has led to higher volumes of candidates being recruited than for most other sectors and demand remains steady throughout the calendar year.
Also, let's start to think of Contact Centres for what they truly are:
customer support centres for global brands,
technical support centres for all the different gadgets that we use today and
the sales departments of international companies.

What Do People Do in a Contact Centre?
The world of Contact Centres can be split into two categories: Inbound & Outbound. A lot of people associate Contact Centres with "Sales, sales, sales! Targets, targets, targets!" This may discourage some people but this is only one side to the Contact Centre sector.
Inbound: This is the customer centric, "helpful" side to Contact Centres. This is where you help customers with any queries, concerns or problems they may have. If you find the thought of having to sell to strangers a bit too scary/daunting then this side of Contact Centres is more suited to you.
Outbound: This is the sales driven, target hitting, fast paced environment that usually comes to people's minds. Working in outbound you would be required to complete customer surveys, data verification, or a sale. If you love the chase of a sale and the buzz of securing it, this is the place for you.
