Job description

Main Purpose of Post

  1. Responsible for the marketing, publicity, audience development and engagement initiatives for Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre, Flowerfield Arts Centre and associated cultural services programmes.
  2. Assisting with the resourcing and delivering of specific visitor engagement programmes to increase public usage of both Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre and Flowerfield Arts Centre.
  3. Ensure that the department complies with all statutory and legislative requirements by adhering to these requirements and working in accordance with good governance and health and safety requirements.
  4. Ensure that all responsibilities are carried out in a timely and effective manner and that general confidentiality is maintained in all areas relating to the work of the Council.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. To develop and implement marketing, publicity and audience development initiatives to maximise usage of and income generation of Flowerfield Arts Centre and Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre.
  2. To be responsible for the marketing and publicity for Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre and Flowerfield Arts Centre including managing the production of events guides, ticketing/box office system, project launches, press calls, advertising, devising and issuing press releases and managing the Arts Centres websites, e-newsletter and social media platforms (eg Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube).
  3. To assist the CFDM in developing a marketing strategy and related plans for the Arts Centres.
  4. To assist the Cultural Facilities Development Manager (CFDM) to develop specific visitor engagement programmes (eg Facility tours, business liaison events to increase venue hire, community events) in both Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre and Flowerfield Arts Centre and to manage these programmes, liaising with the Arts and Cultural Facilities Officers.
  5. To pro-actively develop key partnerships across the community, cultural, education, health and tourism voluntary and private sectors to increase sales, income generation and awareness of the Arts Centres and cultural services programmes.
  6. To assist the CFDM to identify and secure external funding and sponsorship to enable council-delivered cultural activities.
  7. To assist the CFDM in developing and delivering evaluation, monitoring and consultation initiatives with appropriate stakeholder groupings including current users, non-users, community groups, voluntary arts groups and arts professionals resident in the Borough and assist with programme development identifying potential audiences and ensuring effective marketing strategies.
  8. To assist with the research and management of cultural services databases including maintaining the Arts Centres mailing lists, visitor data and sector media contacts.
  9. To assist and contribute to the development of exhibition and events materials and activities promotional material in conjunction with the Arts and Cultural Facilities Officers.
  10. Assist the CFDM and external funders with the preparation of evaluative and statistical reports.
  11. Contribute to the development, delivery, monitoring and review of Council's Cultural Services Strategy, associated business plan(s), services, facilities and programmes contained therein.
  12. Assist the CFDM to manage resources, budgets and procurement including the timely delivery within budget of all projects and contracts.
  13. Supervise volunteers and work placement programmes.
  14. Assist the CFDM with implementation and maintenance of all systems for the effective management of risk, performance and Health and Safety.
  15. To act as occasional Duty Officer and key holder for Flowerfield Arts Centre.

Essential Criteria

Applicants must have either:

  • A third level qualification, or equivalent, in a relevant subject such as Marketing, Arts or Public Relations and be able to demonstrate, on the application form, by providing personal and specific examples at least two years' experience of developing and delivering marketing and publicity projects within the arts and cultural sector.

OR

  • Alternatively, consideration may be given to candidates who do not possess the required educational qualification but can demonstrate, on the application form, by providing personal and specific examples at least four years' experience of developing and delivering marketing and publicity projects within the arts and cultural sector.

AND

All applicants must demonstrate one year's experience in all of the following areas:

  • Audience development initiatives.
  • Developing successful stakeholder partnerships with voluntary and private sector organisations.
  • Managing and using digital/social media platforms to include Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
  • Use of Microsoft Office applications to include: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

  • The nature of the post may require flexible working, for example outside normal office hours as required.
  • 37hrs per week
  • £12.10 per hour increasing to £13.99
