Job Description

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

  • To support the full and effective implementation of strategies and projects relevant to the Community Planning section which will include the following unit areas; Community Planning, Community Services, Community Safety and Good Relations.

  • To work across the section to assist with the delivery of projects, grant aid, events, key meetings and related business.

  • To work with a range of internal staff across Council and external stakeholders to assist in the development of effective partnerships.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist with the delivery of the Support Plan which aims to strengthen local communities, increase participation and promote social inclusion.

To assist in the delivery of Community Plan, Love Living Here.

Work with local community groups to develop capacity through a range of programmes and projects.

Manage and maintain grant files in relation to grants awarded and communicate with relevant stakeholders.

Carry out monitoring visits to events/activities funded under the Council's Grant Aid Programme and/or any other funded activity as appropriate.

Vouch all expenditure related to the grants awarded under the Council's Grant Aid Programme.

Assist in the delivery of Community Planning workshops and services.

To work with other sections and other departments to achieve Community Development outcomes

To develop and maintain working relationships with relevant statutory partners, communities and stakeholders in order to improve services and outcomes for local communities.

Assist groups both in identifying relevant funding opportunities and in the preparation of funding applications.

Assist with the delivery of the Community Plan for the Borough and with the work of the Place Shaping Fora across the Borough.

To carry out relevant research on Community Development Policy and Practice.

Assist with the preparation of project claims and monitoring information as required by funders in a timely manner.

Assist in the preparation of and issuing of Letters of Offer.

Assist with the planning, publicity and delivery of the Council's annual events programme in conjunction with the Council's Media and Marketing Team. To include the booking of equipment, services and venue.

Assist with the procurement of all goods and services required to deliver programmes and events in line with the Council's procurement guidelines.

To prepare financial reports for unit areas.

To prepare Council reports for unit areas and other reports for external funders where applicable.

Such other duties as may be allocated by the Community Services Officer in line with the general requirements of the post.

To work in a professional manner with Elected Member at all times.

To undergo such training as deemed necessary by the Community Services Officer for the performance of the duties of the post.

Assist with the implementation of Council's DEA Programme.

Assist with the co-ordination of Council's DEA Place Shaping Forums.

24

Assist in the preparation and co-ordination of corporate tasks to include business plans, operational indicators, corporate improvement plans and corporate plan.
