Job Description

Customs Administrator - Imports/Exports | Freight | 6 month contract| €30-35k

The client: A well established Global Freight Forwarder is seeking to appoint a Customs Administrator (Imports/Exports) to join their busy team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced candidate to join a progressive company with a firm presence in Ireland spanning across multiple locations.

The key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the customs administration on Imports/Exports in Road & Air Freight
  • Work with business functions and customs agents to ensure correct information import/export information is provided to Customs and other Government Agencies as required at time of import/export
  • Support and deliver the development of customs procedures in line with the company's trade and customs global policies and procedures
  • Implementation and the maintenance of standard operational procedures (SOP's) to meet with ISO standards and internal regulations
  • Liaise with customers and providing key performance indicators (KPI's)
  • Ensure deadlines are met in a timely manner and within agreed timeframes and SLA's
  • Providing sales quotes for local and global tenders
  • Responsible for keeping the customer fully informed on orders/bookings progression and any deviations, exceptions or changes that may arise from time to time
  • Support the operational team - organise bookings, update bookings, create files on systems, check Estimated Time of Arrival/Estimated Time Departure
  • Daily file openings/customs entries/proof of delivery(POD'S)/invoicing/job costing/issuing bills of lading & waybills
  • Follow up on outstanding invoices to ensure payment deadlines are met
  • Liaise with customs officers on customs examinations/queries

Skills/Experience:

  • Proven experience in a freight/customs specific role with ideally 2-3 years experience
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • The ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
  • Deadline orientated with the ability to produce high quality work often within very tight timeframes
  • Strong IT skills with a good technical ability
