DESKTOP SUPPORT TECHNICIAN (Temporary) Derry/L'Derry
We are seeking for our client one of the largest employers in the Northwest and well established high tech manufacturing facility an experienced desktop support technician. Hours of work will be 39 per week Mon to Fri
Suitable applicants must have relevant qualifications:
A University Degree or a recognised equivalent professional qualification in an Information Communication and Technology (ICT) discipline and a minimum of 1 years' experience in the installation and support of the full range of network based computer equipment, such as personal computers, printers and data switches. Candidates must be capable of working with software and hardware applications.
HND or recognised equivalent professional qualification in an Information Communication Technology (ICT) discipline and a minimum of 2 years' experience in the installation and support of the full range of network based computer equipment, such as personal computers, printers and data switches, software installation and systems programming.
A minimum of 4 years' experience in the installation and support of the full range of network based computer equipment, such as personal computers, printers and data switches and the role of Desktop Technician Support.
Job Description: Includes various IT functions in the internal information systems function including systems programming, applications programming,networks, and computer operations. Includes jobs responsible for managing information systems within a specific functional area (i.e.,marketing, sales, human resources, manufacturing, etc.) Support Job Category: Performs the installation, repair and preventative maintenance of personal computer and related systems. Assists in determining suitable software to meet user requirements.
Troubleshoots software and hardware failures and identifies network problems when they relate to personal (desktop or laptop) computers.
May assist Network Administrator - this may be internal and external client-focused for company-hosted web-enabled solutions.
Provides day-to-day technical support to employees for network infrastructure and internal desktop systems software and hardware. Installs, configures and troubleshoots desktop systems, workstations, servers and network issues in a heterogeneous environment. Maintains passwords, data integrity and file system security for the desktop environment. Communicates highly technicalinformation to both technical and nontechnical personnel. Recommends hardware and software solutions, including new acquisitions and upgrades. May participate in development of information technology and infrastructure projects. May conduct training programs designed to educate an organizations computer users about basic and specialized applications.
May be internal or external, client-focused, working in conjunction with Professional Services and outsourcing functions. May include company-wide, web-enabled solutions.
Manages the activities and personnel associated with providing technical services to internal customers by identifying, prioritizing, and confirming resolution of reported problems with desktop, laptop, and networked systems. Ensures that all phases of desktop support, including installations, upgrades, software, hardware, operating systems, and operating system configuration issues,are properly coordinated, monitored, tracked, and resolved. Oversees maintenance of database for data integrity and security for desktop systems.
Develops information technology projects and provides strategic management and objectives for the department. May manage training programs designed to educate an organizations computer users about basic computer use and specialized applications. Performs data and iformation analysis leading to business decisions or recommendations. Frequently includes preparation of reports and other documents.
Salary will be £10-£12 per hour
