Job description

Grafton specialists are delighted to be retained by our client in their search for a HSEQ officer.

Due to their increasing workload and growth within the NI and UK market a HSEQ Officer is required to come on board and hit the ground running.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Working as a key member of a small management team.
  • Developing and maintaining site specific HSEQ documentation.


  1. Environmental and Construction Management Plans,
  2. Risk assessments and Method Statements,
  3. Site specific plans such as traffic management, SWMPs, etc.
  4. Traffic Management Plans; Pre-demolition Audits; Waste Management Plans.

Roles and responsibilities continued

  • Assisting with PQQs and various other Tender submission requirements.
  • Understanding relevant legislation.
  • Assisting in the maintenance of the Health, Safety, and Environmental & Quality Management System.
  • Participating in audit systems and management arrangements.
  • Carrying out regular site inspections and site inductions; completing toolbox talks; recording audits.
  • Working with Contracts Manager, office staff and site teams to ensure that site documentation is relevant, timely and accurate.
  • Participating in Company training, occ health, etc.
  • Supporting further development to our existing HSEQ systems.
  • Managing design improvements for Company HSEQ documentation.
  • Helping reduce the number of H&S incidents to zero accidents.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential criteria:

  • Educated to third level in a business, environmental or health & safety related discipline.
  • Clean driving license and access to own transport.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
  • At least two year's experience in a similar type role.
  • Broad understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and Codes of Practice.
  • Strong communication skills - both written and verbal.
  • IT Literate - Windows, Auto-desk, etc.
  • Ability to prioritise own workload and balance demands from numerous sources.


  • Previous experience working in demolition / construction environment.

Person profile:

  • Strong communication skills - both written and verbal.
  • Ability to liaise effectively with people at all levels.
  • Strong ability to self-manage and to use initiative to complete tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work in a small team.

Salary - Negotiable
