Job description

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Provide technical operational support for ICT and Communications hardware and software.

Deliver an effective ICT Helpdesk service by providing a high level of internal and external customer service including as appropriate taking ownership of customer queries and complaints and following issues through to completion.

Work as a member of the ICT Support Team to actively participate in cross cutting initiatives within Council to ensure delivery of the agreed ICT objectives as set out in the Departmental Plan and the Corporate Plan.


MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Service Delivery
    • Provide a technical support role in the Council's ICT service. This remit will cover the following services areas:
  • ICT Customer Service - Information Security
  • ICT Business Continuity - ICT Disaster Recovery
  • ICT Asset Management
    • Provide ICT and Communications technical support for all current and future hardware and software.
    • Provide a technical support role in the delivery and promotion of information security to protect Council data.
    • Provide a technical support role in the implementation of ICT business continuity & disaster recovery plans to ensure the robust, resilient and secure delivery of all critical Council core ICT Infrastructure.
    • Implement agreed procedures in relation to the recording, auditing and management of ICT assets.
    • Implement agreed procedures in relation to ordering, stock control and use of ICT consumables.
    • Ensure effective communications with the ICT Senior Technical Officer and other ICT Technical Officers on ICT technical support issues including clearly communicating updates.
    • Implement ICT policies and procedures pursuing best practice, continual improvement and innovation.
    • Actively support ICT collaboration and best practice and proactively promote new initiatives such as Digital Transformation.
    • Provide assistance and support as necessary to the ICT Projects Officer.

Essential Criteria

Applicants must have a minimum of a third level qualification (e.g. HNC, HND, BTEC) in an ICT related subject.

AND

Be able to demonstrate by providing personal and specific examples, that they have two years' experience in the following areas:

  • hands-on technical support of ICT hardware and software in an organisation leading to successful outcomes;
  • effective implementation of ICT strategies and policies;
  • supporting the efficient delivery of service objectives and plans within a tight budgetary framework;
  • effectively working as part of a team of staff to achieve organisational objectives;

OR

For candidates who do not meet the qualification requirements in full:

Be able to demonstrate by providing personal and specific examples, that they have four years' experience in the following areas:

  • hands-on technical support of ICT hardware and software in a large organisation (employing at least 200 people or with an annual budget of at least £15 million) leading to successful outcomes;
  • effective implementation of ICT strategies and policies;
  • supporting the efficient delivery of service objectives and plans within a tight budgetary framework;

effectively working as part of a team of staff to achieve organisational objectives

Full time temporary role based in Ballymena

£15.36 per hr
