Job Description

Minor Works Project Development Officer required for Public Sector client based in Ballymena

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

  • Responsible for the delivery of assigned projects within the Council's Minor Works projects programme of work.
  • Delivery of the Minor Works plan on time and within budget.
  • Responsible and accountable for the day-to-day planning, supervision and co-ordination of Civil Facilities Maintenance and Minor Works.
  • Service Delivery

    1. Implement the Council's minor works projects programme, to monitor progress and liaise with mangers and the project team.
    2. Act as lead project manager for nominated schemes.
    3. Develop action plans including costs and clear work programmes for a wide range of minor works projects.
    4. Responsible for ensuring contractors, consultants and other Council departments involved in contracts co-operate efficiently and effectively.
    5. Efficiently and effectively, manage minor works projects expenditure in line with Councils procurement process.
    6. Assist with drawing up specifications, obtaining competitive tenders and evaluating proposals to ensure both value for money and quality are achieved
    7. Attend meetings and undertake work related to the development and operation of the department as required
    8. Maintain good working relationships with other officers and to regularly liaise with other managers in the department and in the Council to ensure effective co-ordination of activities
    9. Ensure that the project team are kept informed of progress and developments relating to the performance, operation and management of the Minor Works projects and provide advice on the latest issues in this field of service delivery
    10. Carry out such other duties relevant to the post as may be directed by Facilities Maintenance and Minor Works Manger

Essential Criteria

Criterion 1

Degree or equivalent qualification in a Building related subject.

Criterion 2

Be able to demonstrate, by providing personal and specific examples, that they have 3 years' (5 years if you do not have the academic requirement in Criteria 1) experience of managing minor works projects from design to client handover clearly demonstrating experience and competence in the following area

· Successful delivery of minor works projects

Criterion 3

Be able to demonstrate, by providing personal and specific examples, that they have 3 years' (5 years if you do not have the academic requirement in Criteria 1) experience of managing minor works projects from design to client handover clearly demonstrating experience and competence in the following area

· Successful leadership and motivation of project team(s)

Criterion 4

Be able to demonstrate, by providing personal and specific examples, that they have 3 years' (5 years if you do not have the academic requirement in Criteria 1) experience of managing minor works projects from design to client handover clearly demonstrating experience and competence in the following area

· Successful management of budgets

Criterion 5

Be able to demonstrate, by providing personal and specific examples, that they have 3 years' (5 years if you do not have the academic requirement in Criteria 1) experience of managing minor works projects from design to client handover clearly demonstrating experience and competence in the following area

· Experience in dealing with a range of stakeholders

Criterion 6

Membership of a recognised professional body relevant to the post.

Criterion 7

A sound knowledge of Health & Safety requirements

Criterion 8

A sound knowledge of current legislation relating to this post

Criterion 9

An understanding of mechanical and electrical installations

Criterion 10
