Job description

Waste Development & Communications Officer

Lisburn

Temporary

The Client: Local body based in Lisburn

The Role: The post holder will insist in the delivery of a range of services in the Waste Management section within the environmental Services Department. Specific responsibilities & duties include but not limited to:

  • To assist with implementation of the waste management plan, to meet objectives and targets
  • To plan, develop, implement, review and evaluate programmes, campaigns and promotions, to promote good sustainable waste practices
  • Develop, deliver and evaluate a community engagement programme including demonstration schemes, initiatives to reduce contamination and increase participation in community clean up activities
  • To research funding opportunities and where appropriate make applications for funding in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Assist in general public enquiries and complaints, introduce and manage customer care initiatives (mystery shopper exercises, surveys) to ensure high levels of service delivery are achieved and maintained
  • Produce reports and keep up to date with new legislations etc.

Hours of work: 37 hrs per week - Mon to Fri (9am- 5pm)

Requirements:

  • Applicants must have a minimum of 1.1 a degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline such as waste management, environmental science or geography; 1.2 three years relevant experience in the waste management field to include development & delivery of community engagement programmes, development & delivery of communication plans, working in a customer focused environment, implementation and evaluation of waste collection services.
  • Where applicants do not hold the qualifications outlined in 1.1 above they must demonstrate a minimum of five years' experience as above
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation in the field of waste management and a clear understanding of the workings of the government and wider environment and how it operates
  • Applicants MUST hold a full current UK driving license and have access to a car

Rates of pay- £13.99 per hour
