Job Description

Grafton Technology is currently recruiting for a Level 3 IT Services Engineer on behalf of our client, a market leading consultancy based in Belfast. With an expected headcount increase of 50% this year alone this company is definitely one to watch.


Now expanding on their Tier 2 Service Desk team, there is a new opportunity for a 2nd Line Support Engineer to work within an exciting, expanding company and fast paced support environment. We are looking for someone with a flexible approach to undertake exciting new project-work as well as high-end Network and Server Support.

You must be able to demonstrate a genuine enthusiasm for IT and a willingness to remain 100% hands-on in the on-site technology. In this role you will be working as part of a dynamic service desk providing support both remotely and at customer premises working with IT users to resolve problems and answer questions on a variety of hardware components and software programs.


  • Citrix Virtualisation technology suite.
  • Windows Server technologies (Active Directory Group Policies, Remote Desktop Services, IIS, Certificate Services etc.)
  • Linux and/or XenServer experience particularly in virtualising high end graphics.
  • Datacentre virtualisation technologies (VMware ESXi, XenServer, SAN technologies, Converged Infrastructure etc.)
  • An understanding of network technologies (TCP/IP, VPN, DHCP/DNS, Firewall etc.)
  • Basic PowerShell & scripting
  • It would be a huge bonus if you have obtained recent Microsoft, Citrix, Cisco or VMware certifications

This is a project and support role with a great deal of autonomy working under the IT Operations Manager as part of a team of Support Engineers. An ability to demonstrate previous project experience with the above technologies would provide a sound base of knowledge for this role and the focus of the business.

You will benefit from working within a team of highly experienced and well qualified support specialists where best practice and knowledge is shared openly. The team are not restricted in the issues they support and are able to develop their skill-set whilst in the role.

Training and Development

Internal training on products and services will be provided. However, the successful candidate will also be expected to consistently keep abreast of new developments, which would impact on his/her areas of responsibility.
