Job Description

Business Analyst - Energy/Utilities

The Business Analyst will provide business analysis support in the development and delivery of products, processes and tools to help deliver operational strategy. Will work with business teams to complete project business cases and contribute to the design and delivery of pragmatic business and technical solutions to meet business requirements. The Business Analyst will also support the Change Manager in the timely and efficient delivery of change objectives and ensure that policy & procedural documentation is updated to reflect the change.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Use own initiative and knowledge to undertake complex analysis and problem solving
  • Assist in analysing deviations from operational timetables, IT business processes and resources
  • Manage change requests as required for settlement systems, in conjunction with IS teams
  • Develop test plans and UAT scripts for software testing, and lead user acceptance testing as required
  • Assess the materiality of data queries, prioritising solutions and making recommendations
  • Review reconciliations and data analysis work of other team members
  • Maintain and review all-island business processes ensuring they are auditable, up to date and relevant
  • Monitoring regulatory and business obligations to ensure compliance with policies and procedures
  • Assist with settlement scheme audits as required
  • Plan and co-ordinate work activities in conjunction with the Team Lead
  • Represent CAS internally and externally as required
  • Provide cover monitoring, and operating the settlement schedules


  • Strong track record in a Business Analyst role
  • Proven experience in defining business requirements and specifications from initial Change Request Document to business requirements sign-off
  • Self starter with strong time management, good organisation skills and an ability to work to deadlines and prioritise workload
  • Proven ability to bring together, lead and motivate a team
  • Willing and able to effectively challenge internal and external obstacles
  • Good communication skills
  • Structuring, writing and delivery of presentations
  • Excellent command of MS Excel, PowerPoint and process mapping tool
  • Good knowledge of SQL and database structures

Technical Knowledge

  • Strong analytical ability to interpret relevant data with a facts based approach to decision making
  • Knowledge of the Energy/Utilities industry a distinct advantage
  • Strong problem solving capabilities

Please note that this is a contract position for 12 months. Salary will be within the region of 38-40k depending on experience.
