Business Development Manager

We are currently recruiting for a leading company within the FMCG sector for a tenacious and commercially driven Business Development Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to promote and further develop an already established brand across the Northern Ireland market. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in achieving and indeed exceeding sales targets within a fast paced and dynamic field sales role and will be keen to further develop an already successful career.

Responsibilities:

* Identify new and suitable retail partners, building relationships with competitor retailers who have the potential to be future brand retailers
* Present and sell the benefits of the brand and model to potential new retailers
* Develop a journey plan with call frequency, to include cold calling
* Generate own leads and set appointments
* Build good working relationships with property agents and legal teams
* Build and maintain an in-depth understanding of the NI marketplace
* Build relationships with key property agents, etc. and develop method of keeping up to date with greenfield developments and potential business development opportunities across NI
* Understand the offer and operating model of all brands in order to ensure potential business is targeted appropriately
* Understand the offer and operating model of competitor brands in order to best position the offer as appropriate
* Collate and circulate market intelligence to relevant others
* Build a strong working relationship with business development colleagues
* As required, participate in functional and cross functional projects to improve and grow the performance level of the business models
* Strong understanding of business commercials involved in bringing new stores on board

Essential Criteria:

* 3 years sales and/or business development experience
* The ability to demonstrate and evidence a strong track record in sales and/or the securing of new business
* A forward thinking and creative sales approach
* Results-driven
* The ability to build long term relationships
* Strong interpersonal skills at a face-to-face level - even when cold calling
* Confident negotiation skills and the ability to close a deal
* The ability to work on own initiative and also as part of a team
* The ability to cope with competing demands and to prioritise tasks
* Resilient and determined to succeed
* Commercially aware
* Presentation skills
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
* Full Driving Licence

Desirable Criteria:

* Strong working knowledge of the independent food retail sector in Northern Ireland
