A global engineering firm in Belfast is working in partnership with Grafton to recruit for a Tactical Buyer on a permanent basis. This is a newly created position in a recently restructured purchasing and supply chain department. The successful Tactical Buyer will join an established business who have been manufacturing here for a number of decades. As Tactical Buyer you will join a fast past purchasing department and will report to the Supply Chain Manager. It will be your job to manage the flow of materials from dock to stock, supporting production requirements. As Tactical Buyer you will support the purchasing and materials process, planning and scheduling against fluctuations in demand. You will play a key role in the buying function, sourcing and purchasing raw material and indirect goods and services while managing suppliers to ensure on time delivery. You will expedite material as and when required using my client's bespoke MRP system, escalating all non-conformance issues.

Working hours are 08.00 - 16.30 Monday to Thursday and 08.00 - 13.30 Friday.

As this Tactical Buyer job is a multifaceted role which incorporates tactical buying and Materials Requirements Planning a minimum of one years experience in a similar supply chain/planning role within manufacturing is required. You should demonstrate excellent IT skills (to include Excel) and this will be tested at interview stage. The successful Tactical Buyer will work in a fast paced versatile environment and be accountable to a range of targets, therefore, you should be a dynamic, flexible individual who works well under pressure. Working knowledge of an MRP is without question, a must. A degree/CIPS membership/diploma would be advantageous (although not essential) and for shortlisting purposes candidates who demonstrate the essential and desirable criteria will be given preference.
