Job Description

Category Manager

Grafton are recruiting on behalf of a leading brand in the food manufacturing sector for a Category Manager. You will be responsible for the execution of vision for category growth in a focus customer. Successful execution of the Category Vision will result in company being seen as the category partner of choice with their customers and the optimisation of range, distribution, space, location, promotions and availability of the brand portfolio in the marketplace.


* Lead the development of customer specific compelling category visions and plans to deliver thought leadership with customers
* Identify, understand and articulate key category trends / shopper trends, missions, drivers of category growth, nationally and by customer
* Create the channel / customer plans to meet customer needs, allowing our products to win in store supported by compelling Shopper Marketing programmes
* Presenting category recommendations to category peer within the customer organisation to influence their decision-making to adopt the strategies & plans
* Follow the retailer cycle(s) of the category marketing process to ensure that all plans have been correctly assessed, approved and implemented
* Develop strong internal and external relationships with key stakeholders
* Represent customer needs internally, ensuring alignment of Customer, Consumer & Category strategy
* Work cross functionally with the commercial, NPD and marketing teams to deliver growth with customers and engagement with consumers
* Input into NPD process (from insight to NPD) from identifying opportunities through to developing shopper-led selling stories
* Supporting the Managing Director in other projects or duties within reason and capability associated within this role

Person Specification:

* 3 year's FMCG experience working in a category, sales or marketing function with the Big 4 retailers
* Be analytical and experienced with handling Shopper and Market data
* Demonstrate strong Commercial acumen coupled with shopper and category insight
* Possess Experience in Category / Brand Building (consumer marketing)
* Have the ability to create compelling selling stories for our products
* Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills
* Whilst not essential preference will be given to those candidates with experience within the meat / poultry sector
