Job Description

A temporary Estates Surveyor required for a local government organisation based in Belfast.

Starting ASAP potentially for 3 months

£20.84ph

Monday-Friday =37 hours per week

Duties will include:

  1. To liaise with client departments regarding value significant issues, to carry out investigations about the location, ownership and availability of properties and to advise client departments thereon.
  2. To advise client departments regarding value significant issues, to prepare valuation and negotiate for the voluntary acquisition or renting of such properties including negotiations on detailed lease terms.
  3. To assist in the preparation of vesting orders for compulsory acquisition of land or buildings which cannot be acquired by agreement.
  4. To advise on rentals for interdepartmental purposes and for tenancies of dwelling accommodation on council properties.
  5. To advise client departments on legal and practical property constraints, to negotiate financial and detailed lease terms for the disposal, either voluntary or under compulsory purchase, of properties.

Essential Criteria

Qualifications and experience

Applicants must hold current corporate membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors as either Chartered Valuation Surveyor, Chartered Commercial Property Surveyor or Chartered Planning and Development Surveyor or equivalent membership.

Applicants must either:

  • have a third level qualification in a relevant subject such as Estates Management, Property Investment and Development and be able to demonstrate at least two years' post chartered qualification experience of managing a large and diverse property portfolio across a range of property types. Within this experience of managing a large and diverse portfolio at least two years' post chartered qualification experience in at least two of the following three areas:
    • strategic asset management
    • property and estate management including landlord and tenant management , rent reviews and lease renewals; and/or
    • property development and regeneration.

or

  • be able to demonstrate at least three years' post chartered qualification experience of managing a large and diverse property portfolio across a range of property types. Within this experience of managing a large and diverse portfolio, you must also demonstrate at least three years' post chartered qualification experience in at least two of the following three areas:
    • strategic asset management
    • property and estate management including landlord and tenant management , rent reviews and lease renewals; and/or
    • property development and regeneration.
