Job Description

Alongside our Public Sector Body Client, Grafton are recruiting for a Health & Safety Advisor

Duration of assignment: 6 Months with possible extension

Salary: £27,924

Hours of Work: 37 per week

Key Purpose of role :

As the Health & Safety Advisor you will be contributing to the management, direction and development of Health & Safety throughout the council and ensure the implementation of the Councils Health & Safety programme including auditing, training and assistance with Risk Management

Duties :

- Coordinating risk assessments including workplace Fire Risk Assessments within the Council and develop a planned review programme for Council Buildings

- Conducting work place safety inspections, producing reports, recommendations and carrying up compliance audits

- Carrying out accident / incident investigations

- Assisting with identification of training needs and participating in the delivery of training

- Keeping all staff up to date with Health & Safety

- Liaising with external agencies as necessary including the completion of necessary documentation eg RIDDOR reporting

- Coordinating the Councils Health & Safety Joint working group and participate on external groups such as NISG


- A third level qualification ( degree, NVQ Level 4 or equivalent) - if you don't have either then you must have a minimum of 5 years experience of a similar job

- 2 years practical and operation experience in health & safety

- Experience in liaising with insurance professionals and dealing with public liability claims

- Must hold a full current driving licence

- NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety

- Membership of the Institute of Occupational Health & Safety
