Health and Safety Manager

Location: County Tyrone

Salary: 40k-50k negotiable plus benefits.

Grafton Engineering Division is working in partnership with a leading Manufacturing Business seeking a Health and Safety Manager.

My Client is looking for a Health and Safety Manager to work with them in County Tyrone. The successful applicant will play a key role in driving and enforcing a Health and Safety mind-set throughout the Company.

The successful candidate will ensure continuous improvement on safety standards, implementing excellent practices for an excellent team. The applicant will be expected to liaise closely with the senior management team and become a safety champion regarding all aspects of Health and Safety.

The applicant will be expected to strengthen the Companies current Health and Safety legacy with their expertise and strong knowledge on CDM requirements, legislation and procedures. Playing a key role in shaping and ensuring my Client are a leading example of Health & Safety in their industry.

  • To effectively manage and control all aspects of the Company Health and Safety procedures making sure their IOS accreditation are upheld.
  • To ensure the company meets the necessary legislative obligations and drive the continuous improvement of Health, Safety and throughout the company.
  • To enable the ongoing development of innovative policies and practices to ensure we are a role model within our industry.
  • To liaise with Management to insure a Proactive approach is taken on Health and Safety.
  • Investigate any accidents that occur and drive the near miss reporting process fully.
  • Access all current Health and Safety documentation, identify elements that needed altered and provide solutions.
  • Carry out audit and regulate all health and safety policies
  • Control all Health and Safety Managements systems, ensuring we maintain to OHSAS 18001 and can attain to ISO45001.
  • Monitor compliance to policies by law by inspecting employees, operations and machines.
  • Create reports on all matters relating to health & safety including findings from risk assessments.
  • Maintain a central record of all these risk assessments and monitor recording within Directorate and Resource areas.
  • Identify and deliver Health and Safety training to required roles.
  • Illustrate and perform CDM 2015 duties.
  • Have knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety frequently perform site inspections.
  • Identify trends and recommend actions and when necessary attend Health and Safety emergencies outside normal working hours.

Experience and Criteria:

  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) Level 6 in Occupational Safety and Health.
  • Have at least four years' experience of managing a health and safety function.
  • Full understanding of legal health and safety guidelines as well as CDM requirements.
  • Fully aware and have strong understanding of all applicable ISO standards.
  • Led and performed Site and factory audits.
  • Full functionality on appropriate quality software.
  • Excellent planning and project Management skills.
  • Strong written and spoken communications skills.
  • Good planning & Organisation Skills
  • Excellent leadership and management skills.
  • The ability to work as part of a team.
  • A keen interest in health and safety.
  • Outstanding recording and reporting ability.
