HR & Payroll Officer - Retail Multi Site Role


Grafton HR is delighted to be assisting with the recruitment of a HR & Payroll Officer for a leading Retailer based in Belfast.

This is a stand-alone role, assuming full responsibility for the HR function, for approx 50 staff, located throughout Northern and South Ireland.

The successful candidate will be assisting with the planning, organising and co-ordination of the company's HR and Payroll section.

Key Responsibilities


Preparation of employee contracts and offer letters

Provide advice in relation to employee and industrial relations issues

On occasion, travel to any store in the Republic or Ireland or Northern Ireland to complete disciplinary meetings/dismissals

Create job descriptions

Organise the recruitment and selection process

Reviewing and updating HR policies where required

Management and co-ordination of worker's compensation

Co-ordination or superannuation contributions

Handling employee queries in relation to payroll and HR

Ad hoc HR and payroll matters


Processing of the Company's payroll

Collate all payroll information, and the processing, production and filing of reports and journals

Prepare and remit monthly superannuation contributions and quarterly employee statements

Prepare and process journals for employee provisions

Reconciliation of payroll related General Ledger accounts

Preparation of payroll reports for management

Calculations as required in relation to termination and redundancy

End of year processing and reconciliation

The Person

CIPD qualified or working towards

2 years HR experience essential

End to end payroll processing desirable

Experience with SAGE is desirable

Strong numeracy ability with accurate data entry skills

An understanding of Payroll and HR legislation and processes

On offer is a salary of £20 - £24k + benefits.

This role should be viewed as an excellent opportunity for an aspiring HR Professional, keen to not only develop their HR & Payroll skills within a fast paced and rapidly expanding business, but the ability to own and run a HR department, offering additional responsibility and development.

It is preferred that the successful candidate is able to drive and has access to a vehicle for any potential travel required within the role.
