Sales Manager

Grafton are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading food company for a Sales Manager in retail sector with a proven track record of commercial success in a competitive B2B environment. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and driven individual to join an established company, developing a leading brand. You will be managing and developing existing customer accounts and actively prospecting and opening new accounts.


* Mange the van sales operation / National Accounts in order to generate growth and profitability
* Achieve sales & wastage budgets of products to generate maximum volume and margin
* Plan an effective sales territory to maximize the selling time to maximise the expected sales and revenue
* Participate in budget setting to ensure sales budgets are reasonable and meet sales demand
* Train and coach subordinates to develop their competencies
* Maintain strong customer relation to drive the business
* Managing customer issues, improving performance and providing training objectives
* Review and analyse sales force achievements to ensure company objectives are being achieved and control systems adhered to
* Assist the Van Sales in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities via expansion of the customer base, promotional activities, range extensions or merchandising changes
* Frequently review the sales priorities, planning and presentation of the sales force ensuring that they are continuously aware of all stock, pricing and promotional issues
* Ensure that all Van Sales receive feedback of market visits with agreed follow up objectives of the fieldwork
* Conduct annual and monthly appraisals for all Van Sales reporting to you
* Evaluate and implement changes to journey plan for Van Sales reporting to you
* Ensure that the volume and value targets are achieved in each customer sector
* Authorise Van Sales orders, agreed FOC's, damaged goods uplifts and customer discounts
* Building relationships with the key decision makers within the different Categories they operate in within store
* To use all the sales tools available i.e. Top Action Report, Store Scorecards, and Brand/Category selling stories to engage and create a commercially selling stories to engage with key in-store contacts from the Store Manager down, to achieve their key objectives
* Setting appointments as and when required with key contacts
* Effectively use case studies to build credibility and strengthen in store relationships
* Provide the relevant product training to store staff to drive brand awareness and understanding of products

Person Specification:

* Proven track record within a sales role within the FMCG sector with a strong passion for food
* Experience in margin management and analysis of sales figures
* Customer Focused approach
* Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
* A Team Player
* Strong numerical skills
* Experience in managing a successful sales team advantageous
