Job Description

Our Client, a Large Public Sector Organisation require a temporary Semi-skilled Handyperson to start ASAP.

Role: Semi-skilled Handyperson

Pay rate: 0-12 week's £7.50 p/h

13 week's + £8.70 p/h

Location: Coleraine

Hours: 37 hours a week (Monday - Friday)

Key Responsibilities:

  • To erect replacement signs and clean and maintain existing signs
  • Duties will include driving vehicles with trailers and where appropriate conduct vehicle checks and routine vehicle maintenance of vehicles e.g. oil and water checks and cleaning
  • In addition to the usual tools and equipment you will be required to operate powered hand tools, minor plant and machinery
  • Assist with general maintenance type work where appropriate
  • To ensure the safety of the workforce and public during operations
  • To drive and operate a boom lift as and when requiredRepairs to damaged or vandalized structures or equipmentLaying of concrete, kerbs, flags and pathwaysMinor joinery repairs to doors etcAttending different tradesmen in the field of joinery, painting and bricklaying The maintenance of a courteous attitude towards the public at all timesResponsible to the Estates Supervisor for the associated resources/machinery necessary to perform this work to be carried out. This includes operation, routine maintenance and ensuring kept clean
  • Completing the necessary paperwork - this includes completing weekly timesheets, completing accident report forms/records, vehicle log books etc. in the format requested
  • Inform and report to the Estates Supervisor any accidents/damage to people, vehicles or properties
  • The erection and dismantling of sports and other equipment
  • Replacement of broken or vandalized components to play equipment
  • Minor plumbing repairs including sewers, chambers etc
  • Basic drainage and associated pipe work and maintenance of grass areas
  • General maintenance of buildings, public parks, playing fields, play areas, picnic sites, playing fields, landscaped areas and other Council assets

Essential Criteria:

Applicants must have a valid and up to date:

  • T1 training certificate/qualification
  • Boom Lift certificate/qualification
  • Applicants must demonstrate a minimum of one years' experience in:
  • T1 operational delivery
  • Boom Lift usage Applicants must clearly demonstrate a minimum of one years' experience in:Signage - erecting street name plates

Applicants must clearly demonstrate a minimum of two years' experience in:

  • The use of a variety of hand tools
  • The ability to priorities work

Desirable Criteria

  • Possession of a valid and up to date T2 training certificate/ qualification.
