Job Description

Our client is a leading Irish energy business, dedicated to the provision of transmission and market services for the benefit of electricity consumers. Our client is looking to recruit a Software Developer with a good understanding of software development within complex integrated systems environment. The Software Developer will provide support, maintenance and development services for a range of new and existing IS Group applications & systems.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Design, development and support of in-house software applications and systems
  • Development and documentation to be carried out in line with our clients IS development standards
  • Software Development using VB.Net and ASP.Net 2005, 2010 & 2013
  • Ensuring the secure administration of source code versions using SourceSafe
  • Ensure a smooth integration of new operational systems and processes into our clients existing Group systems
  • Completing detailed analysis and specification of technical requirements
  • Unit testing and factory acceptance testing of in-house developed applications and systems
  • Create technical documentation and user guides for end users

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Essential

  • A formal 3rd level qualification in an IT or related discipline
  • Minimum 6+ years of design and development experience is required
  • Strong background of Microsoft .Net, Vb.Net 2010/13, WPF, Oracle 11g/12c, SQL, SP's and XML
  • Relevant experience in implementing enterprise solutions as described above, as well as production of technical specifications and support guides
  • Extensive technical and analytical skills
  • A proven ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Previous experience developing & working with WebServices
  • Excellent communication and written skills

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a regulated industry particularly the energy industry would be a considerable advantage
  • Practical understanding of Virtual Infrastructure
  • Practical understanding of Oracle database architecture
  • Working knowledge of SharePoint 2007/2010 Development
  • Experience of using ASP.NET

This work is expected to commence as soon as possible and is likely to continue until June 2017. It is favourable for a candidate to be available to start immediately.
