Stock Logistics Manager - £32,500 - £35,000 - Belfast

Grafton Recruitment is currently working in partnership with a leading FMCG organisation in their search for an experienced Stock Logistics Manager to be based at their site in Belfast on a permanent basis.


Reporting to the Logistics & Customer Service Director you will be responsible for leading, motivating and managing the 3PL and Stock Department Staff in the most cost effective and efficient manner whilst delivering the required service level provision at all times within budget and focus on the delivery of continuous improvement initiatives.


  • Identify, propose and implement areas of improvement through continuous review, change management and redesign of processes
  • Focus on delivering the departments as Centres of Excellence within the organisation through knowledge, benchmarking, technology and promotion of best practice
  • Ensure department is adequately staffed at all times, promoting a positive team spirit and encouraging effective communication and planning through effective leadership
  • Build and maintain excellent relationships with suppliers / customers and negotiate competitive rates and conduct rate reviews where appropriate
  • Have full commercial awareness of the impacts of resource control, utilisation of assets to achieve targets and deliver within budget
  • Ensure completion of Period End tasks within the Departments
  • Enhance KPI reporting, ensuring that agreed service levels are met, if not exceeded
  • Proactively analyse service level reports to identify improvement opportunities
  • Compile the annual Budget in conjunction with the relevant Finance personnel
  • Conduct operational performance reviews and ensure that best use is made of technology to enhance collaborative processes
  • To ensure that inventory is managed correctly to minimise stock loss
  • Ensure compliance with Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency (MHRA) regulations for specified products and be a designated Responsible Person / Deputy Responsible Person
  • Ensure all customer orders are effectively processed and managed via our service partners
  • Meet and engage with suppliers, customers and sales teams, where appropriate, to deliver a first class service provision
  • Develop, actively promote and deliver an ethos of continuous improvement within the department
  • Ensure processes and policies are up to date, documented and in place and that expected standards are adhered to
  • Maintain professional and courteous levels of communication with all stakeholders by telephone, email and face-to-face
  • Provide support to the team and encourage staff development ensuring all staff are trained to a high standard at all times
  • Take ownership of queries and complaints and follow though to resolution
  • Monitor and maintain an orderly workflow in accordance with department and company priorities
  • Fully investigate instances where service levels do not meet the required standards and implement appropriate corrective action changes where necessary
  • Maintain good working relationships with other managers and discuss potential improvements to service delivery
  • Take full responsibility for departmental recruitment and appraisal processes ensuring competency management
  • Ensure accurate records are kept of discussions and correspondence with suppliers, customers etc
  • Engage with senior management to develop departmental objectives and KPI's and report on progress/achievement
  • Participate in and support wider Company improvement projects, initiatives and forums where required
  • Attendance at all relevant meetings, conferences, forums and appropriate courses to keep ahead of service developments
  • Arrange staff meetings


  • Educated to 3rd level or have 3 to 5 years FMCG experience in a Supply Chain management role
  • Experience of managing / interacting with 3rd Party Logistics Providers
  • Proven track record of leading / managing teams with strong performance management focus
  • SAP experience and highly proficient in Microsoft packages
  • Strong commercially focused approach
  • Strong analytical skills and financial understanding
  • Ability to analyse problems and determine corrective actions
  • Professional manner - articulate with excellent written and oral communication skills and strong interpersonal skills, effective influencer
  • Results focused with excellent planning and organising skills to meet deadlines
  • A self starter with the ability to work on own initiative and drive continuous improvement initiatives / projects
